![]() ![]() All together it is using a little over 700 GB for the SQL and file data storage. ![]() ![]() We probably have a fairly low volume of email: we have about 150 users, and we keep 10 years of messages - right now there are a little over 6 million messages stored. We have not had any specific issues with it, it just keeps running and collecting emails. We have it running on a Windows 2019 Hyper-V guest server. I don't think there is a specific limit to how many messages can be archived, just depends on the disk space available. We use it with the free SQL Express, and the email data is stored in the file system on the server. Our nonprofit has been using GFI Archiver for years for email archiving. Or is there a better solution, or should we just stick with Barracuda and move to the cloud or get a larger appliance? In the next few months about 90% if not more of our users will be on Business Premium.Ĭurrently we retain 7 years of emails, we don't know 100% if we need to hold 7 years or not still sorting thought that one.īut lets say we need to retain 7 years, would something like litigation hold in O365 be a good replacement for the Barracuda Archiver? If so how does searching across the mailboxes work? Can you extract the search results to a PST file? If litigation hold is on a old employee's mailbox do we have to retain a license on that mailbox in order for the litigation hold to remain in place? Say an employee of 4 years leaves, do I need to keep their mailbox licensed for those additional 3 years? But these are small steps and a quick band-aid.Īll our mailboxes are on Office365 right now we are a mix of Business Basic, Standard, Premium, and E3 licenses. Plus purging old user spam digest emails. I am hopping the appliance along by purging old IT reports, alert, and notification emails. The only options we have from Barracuda is their cloud or buy a larger appliance. The issue we are running into with it is we are outgrowing the storage of the device and there is no way to increase the storage. Right now we have an on prem Barracuda Message Archiver, the appliance itself works fine does what it is suppose to. Other then that unless there is a compliancy it might be easy to through the file in Google drive and call it a day.I am looking for some recommendations to replace our current archiving solution. I want to say I thought there was limited amount of exceptions you could use with Google spam protection also and this is another reason to have that layer approach.Īs far as the data transfer I would if it archive data leave it in a file format and stuff away unless there is specific things that need to be migrated to users. That is when proofpoint, mimecat, spamtitan etc will help. I have seen things get by Google spam into groups or shared email boxes. The one thing this does it sets anything that gets through regular spam protection away from your user base. If you want an added layer of security that is on the outside of the network proofpoint is what I like using. You still need to set up DKIM, SPF and DMARK. Google does have an amazing set up for domain spam filter. New items are added approximately every quarter, when launched features are removed from the list.
